We’re suckers for gluten-free baked goods, especially when they’re made in house with a personal touch. And when we walked into Love Heart’s Bakery and Cafe in Litchfield, we knew immediately that we had found exactly that. With mismatched tables, a full coffee bar, a cozy feel, and gluten-free options popping out from all directions, we couldn’t wait to start sampling. They have a full breakfast and lunch menu, with soups, quinoa bowls, salads, sandwiches on their homemade GF bread and more. And then of course, there are the treats. We’re talking avocado brownies (which are amazing), muffins, cookies, granola bars, “defloured” brownies, protein balls..the list goes on. They’re all labeled as GF and those containing nuts are labeled as such. Our favorite of the day was the “Samoa” bar pictured below. It’s both GF and paleo, and just may be the closest we’ve come to a real Samoa Girl Scout cookie yet. It also ate like a meal. Not that we ate it for lunch or anything…..
The facility is not dedicated gluten free, and there’s a sign at the register denoting this. But if you aren’t celiac and/or can handle the risk of cross contamination, this place is definitely worth the drive to beautiful Litchfield!
